It first appeared as a wild Pokémon in Monkey See, Aipom Do! where it stole Thert's hat, and Thert had to battle it. It was defeated by Turtwig's Tackle attack and with the help of Summer's Starly and Emerald's Espeon, Thert successfully captures Aipom.
