Jake Wood currently plays Max Branning in EastEnders. He has played this role since mid-2006. He also briefly played Jackson, a young homless man, 16 years previously. He took a year long hiatus from the show between 2015 and 2016, after his character was frames for the murder of Lucy Beale.
