After leaving the Church he was instrumental in naming and setting up the Freezone or Free Zone, a loose association of individuals and groups intent on practising Scientology outside of the CofS. Soon afterwards, in 1984, he started the Ron's Org as a network of delivery centers, run by people who wanted to continue delivering Standard Technology. He then continued to research the OT levels.
