In November 2385, the Laplace was assigned to perform a long-term refit of the Corvus Beacon, a subspace telescope in the Beta Quadrant. The repairs were interrupted when the Cytherian-controlled USS Aventine arrived and began firing on the array. When the USS Enterprise-E arrived to defend Corvus Beacon against the Aventine, Captain Jean-Luc Picard ordered Captain Kwelm to assist. After the Aventine completed its mission at the array, it departed. The Enterprise pursued the rogue Vesta-class while the Laplace remained behind to salvage its repairs of Corvus Beacon.
