The Captain's arboretum was a restricted-access area off the main arboretum on a starship. Aboard the USS Cantabrian, Captain Noah Wrightson requested a Captain's arboretum be installed so he could grow dahlias, as well as native New Zealand plants such as manuka and Pōhutukawa.
