The Crown Range Charter of 1490 PD was a Manticoran act of law which stated that after reaching a stated population number, the districts of the planet Gryphon would be divided between the colonists. Until then, the colonists would sublet the soil for free, as public property. The required population was reached two hundred and twenty-five years later, and problems with the local aristocracy led to conflicts that reached their climax in the Gryphon Uprising of 1721 PD.
