The R2-series astromech droid was a series of astromech droids that served as repair crews on starships. A group of R2 units was stationed aboard the J-type 327 Utapauan royal starship used by Queen Sabé Arcadia of Utapau for repair work, which they performed after an attack during the Invasion of Utapau. Only one R2 unit, R2-D2, survived that attack.
