Kate Rutter appeared in Coronation Street in March 1996 as solicitor Jo Marsh returning to the programme as humanist celebrant Suzie Forrester in January 2014. Born in Leeds, she trained at Rose Bruford College in the 1970s and since then has worked extensively in film, theatre, television and radio with appearances in Ain't Misbehavin, Seaforth (with Linus Roache), Hetty Wainthropp Investigates, Queer as Folk, The Bill, Clocking Off, The Bill, Doctors and, on the big screen, The Full Monty, Oranges and Sunshine and The Comedian. She also writes and directs and is a prize-winning poet.
