It depends on the birth. If the mother is taken to the hospital quickly with her husband by her side you get to pick the trait(s). If you take the wife to the hospital with a small delay, the game will pick the trait(s), but they will most likely be good ones (such as genious) If the mother has an uncomfortable birth, the baby will most likely turn out with bad traits. (such as slob)
