The unnamed Driver was a customer in Jim's Cafe who complained about the slow service as he had been waiting ten minutes for his breakfast and was due in Birmingham at 10.00am. The problem was caused by the laziness of Alma Sedgewick but it was Elsie Tanner who took the brunt of the complaints from the customers. When Elsie bought his tea he asked her if it wouldn't cause hurt her to give him a smile.
