The Newbie Corral was a location where new residents ("newbies") would first appear when signing into Second Life for the very first time. The name was given after the fact that it was nothing more than a grassy area in Natoma surrounded by a wooden fence. A small sidewalk was eventually added which lead to other newbie oriented locations like Avatar Central. It existed during the beta phase of SL and was replaced by the Orientation Islands and Welcome Area.
