Satire is a literary or other media genre which ridicules vices, shortcomings, and abuses with the goal of prodding individuals or society as a whole toward improvement. From Wikipedia, "Although satire is usually meant to be funny, its greater purpose is constructive social criticism, using wit as a weapon." The common wit weapons of satire include irony, sarcasm, parody, exaggeration, comparison, analogy, and double entendre. Another common feature of satire is the seeming approval and/or acceptance given to the target of the satire.
