In 2017, a referndum resulted in the monarchy being restored in Russia. In August 2017, the monarchy was restored following a national referndum in the Russian Federation. A total of 67% voted in favor of the restoration, and Maria Romanova, the head of the House of Romanov, became the Tsaritsa. The Russian Federation was reformed into a second Russian Empire.
