Rick was the owner of Barefoot Sounds, a 60s-focused record store in Gardena. In fact, the store was year-conditioned for the 60s. Tom Crowell's girlfriend, Donna was one of Rick's employees. Rick was impressed with Crowell's knowledge of 1960s music, and happily hired Crowell not long after.
