The Lung-machine alters a person's lungs to allow breathing underwater. However, the person can then only breathe underwater, and is unable to return to land. When Flash Gordon is lost at sea, he falls into Coralia, Mongo's underwater kingdom. He's taken to Queen Undina, who gives him the lung-machine treatment. ("The Undersea Kingdom of Mongo")
