The USS Idaho was a U.S. Navy battleship attached to the U.S. Pacific fleet defending the Sandwich Islands. During the Battle of the Three Navies, the next battleship in line ahead, the USS Dakota, took a direct shell hit to the rudder. The two battleships barely missed colliding with each other.
