The Temple to Sadahako, devoted to Sadahako, Fortune of Geisha and Arts, was the large temple in the Artisan District of the Second City. The building itself was a work of art, with geisha playing music throughout the day and sometimes at night too. Once a year, during the Festival of Sadahako, all the temple's works of art were gathered and burned, symbolizing the fleeting nature of both life and art. In 1198 the temple was administered by an aged nun named Shinoe, a former geisha.
