Lucas Menard (played by Jed Rees) was a graduate student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. He was competing against Jason Nichols for an NSA grant to study cryobiology. Despite a warning from an old man, Menard walked into a street after arguing with Nichols and was struck and killed by a bus.
