Ruber is a former knight of King Arthur's round table gone rogue who becomes a warlord who seeks to overthrow him. Seeing him as a great potential ally he is met by the sorcerer Rothbart, a man who similarly had a vendetta against a king he sought to depose, who wants to see him prove himself by overthrowing Arthur and getting his hands on the Excalibur. Rothbart gives him some aid, by helping him get a potion that could bond flesh with metal in order to create super soldiers.
