Joseph Philippe Pierre Yves Elliott Trudeau (born 18th October 1919) has been Prime Minister of Canada since 1968. He is thought to be a republican having removed Royal insignia from the Canadian parliament building. He is known to wear sandals in the House of Commons and once did a pirouette behind the back of Queen Elizabeth II. He survived a Vote of No Confidence in 1974 and was re-elected in 1980.
