Freeborn began his career in the Art Department as a model and production assistant on the 2000 film The Adventures of Rocky & Bullwinkle. This film starred Jason Alexander and also featured Whoopi Goldberg, Max Grodénchik, and Norman Lloyd. He also did uncredited set design work for Steven Spielberg's 2002 science fiction film Minority Report, featuring Patrick Kilpatrick and Neal McDonough. He again worked with Spielberg as a set designer (this time credited) on the 2004 film The Terminal (featuring Jude Ciccolella, Michael Nouri, and Zoë Saldana).
