They derive this name from the fact that before the come of the foreign garou, the wyrm had been firmly driven from all of the Americas, killed, or locked away deep where it couldn't break free until the foreign tribes disrupted the prisons. As their lands were said to be pure, thus they were referred to as the pure tribes.
