Most often played outdoors the game requires a great deal more physical activity than most drinking games. The best area for play is a beach where the sand allows for the cans to be easily reassembled, boundary lines to be drawn, and minimal injury from running and sliding. If not played on a beach any open area will do as long as it is large enough and the areas of play can be clearly defined. Other versions exist where the cans are replaced with three bottles set in a line and a stick is used rather than a tennis ball. This however seems to contradict the name ″Flunky Ball″ and should be considered a different game.
