The ability enables Sky and Lee to immediately identify any relative or loved one, even if the individual is disguised or has not been met before. In Lee's case, this includes both his adoptive family and his biological one. They are able to infer the relative's name and any other relevant information about him or her, such as emotions, problems and current or soon dangers. When Sky jumped through time, her grandmother used this ability to both identify her and to sense a danger which would soon threaten the young woman in her own time, the danger being that which later killed her.
