Matsu Mikiko of House Koritome was the daughter of Matsu Ichitaka, the Koritome Daimyo. She was trained as a bushi and bodyguard, while her brother Matsu Taro was her father's heir. Ichitaka only cared for power and how to get more of it, who sought to expand his courtly influence through feats of war. Eventually, her father was visited by the monk Bonsen, who made the daimyo to recall his last life as the monk Ibara. The daimyo shaved his head soon after that, retiring early to a life in the Brotherhood of Shinsei.
