Post Punk or Post Punk Revival is a genre of music that began at the end of the 1970s after the Punk rock explosion in the United States and the UK. The genre's musical characteristics are reminiscent of Punk but the style is more introverted, complex, and experimental. Post Punk laid the way for Alternative Rock both musically and culturally by enlightening the prototype Punk sound and expanding it with more complex practices. In Long Island, it has held a firm place in the indie scene since the 1980s.
