The Space Pirate starship (called the Space Pirate frigate in Captain A.C. Exeter's report and the Space Pirate vessel in a scan) was an unspecified Space Pirate frigate containing many Space Pirates that crash-landed on planet Aether eight days before Metroid Prime 2: Echoes. The frigate had been dispatched by High Command to provide reinforcements and replacement machinery to the existing Pirate base on the planet. The Frigate was engaged by the Galactic Federation ship G.F.S. Tyr, an Anhur-class Patrol Ship running a routine scout in the Dasha region. The Pirate frigate sustained heavy damage from the Tyr and crashed near the Pirate base in the Agon Wastes. The survivors from the crash made their way inside the Pirate complex.
