The cast and crew of Star Trek III thoroughly enjoyed filming at Occidental College, the only filming location in the movie. Associate producer Ralph Winter reflected, "You know, that was a big deal for us. We were landlocked, we were in soundstages the whole time. To go outside was like: Wow! This is really a big movie!"
