Ren was a hacker who tried to cheat his way to the top of the Date Node Animal video game, only to find himself sucked into the gameworld and trapped in the fabled Hidden Ruins (an ancient temple containing the game data for three unreleased Eco-Zones and their avatars; Desert and Rhino, Taiga and Wolf, and River and Crocodile). He emerged later in the real world as the Black DNA Ranger, now in possession of all 3 Power Cubes of the Rhino, Wolf, and Crocodile avatars. While his base Ranger mode is Rhino themed, he can switch to Wolf Mode or Crocodile Mode if the need arises.
