Douglas Needles' father became divorced, and as a result Doug lived with his mother in Bakersville. In 1979, on her third divorce and fourth marriage, Doug and his mother moved to Riverdale Estates in Hill Valley, California. She felt guilty about the divorce, and bought Doug expensive presents. In 1986, when Douglas was arrested by the Hill Valley Police Department for crashing into a delivery truck, Officer Foley stated that he did not know where his father lived at that time.
