The Iota Epsilon Chapter was founded on February 21st, 1973 by 18 men of the UNCG School of Music. The Rho Tau chapter of Appalachian State University led the colonization. The Iota Epsilon Chapter was the first male franterity on the campus of the newly named coed "University of North Carolia at Greensboro." The university was intially established in 1891 as a state normal school for women. Since its charter, the Iota Epsilon chapter has had a strong presence at the school of music and the university campus. Sinfonians can be seen in all of our ensembles, many of the faculty studios, and in the administration of the school. Since its creation Iota Epsilon has created over 500 sinfoniains who have continually upheld the object.
