The 1959-29 was a Grand National (now Nextel Cup) event held at Myrtle Beach Speedway on August 1, 1959. Ned Jarrett won his first career race on a shoestring budget. Jarrett, who had just bought the car the week previous, hadn't even had the check clear before he held off Jim Paschal for the victory by one lap. Eventual season champ Lee Petty finished 4th.
