Sometimes it seems that Torqulon is the adopted home of all the scientists forced to leave their own planets for severe violations of moral, ethical, and legal restrictions. On Torqulon, discovery and knowledge are valued above all else, which offers an extraordinary amount of freedom to experiment. Most other civilizations are happy to avoid Torqulon whenever possible, and the crews of passing starships are advised to avoid the planet at all costs. In return, the loose government of Torqulon generally stays out of galaxy-wide affairs. Rumors speak of a dark power deep within the planetoid itself, but this is unconfirmed.
