Hanonians were a primitive humanoid species native to Hanon IV. They possessed a spoken language, supplemented by wild body and hand gesturing. Possessing little more technology then the ability to fashion the simplest of clothing and wooden weapons, and the ability to make fire, a group of approximately twenty people roamed the volcanic planes of the planet. One individual in the group appeared to be their leader. Tuvok described them as savages, though Chakotay saw some nobility in them. (VOY: "Basics, Part I", "Basics, Part II")
