The Battle of Generis was an engagement during the Yuuzhan Vong War that resulted in the destruction of the Outer Rim Communications Center. The commander, Herbaer Argoll, intended to slow the Yuuzhan Vong's advance at the planet in order to give time for Republic citizens to evacuate planets that were in the path of the Yuuzhan Vongs' invasion. Historians believed that if the Imperial Remnant arrived in time to support the Republic fleet in the battle, the Yuuzhan Vong would have suffered heavy losses and maybe even be forced to retreat. In doing so, the Yuuzhan Vong's fast advance to the Core would have been halted, giving the Republic precious time to organize a defense and evacuate planets that were expected to fall under attack.
