Jay Copeland was a fictional character in the New Zealand soap opera Shortland Street. She was portrayed by Jaime Passer-Armstrong. Victor Kahu was Jay's father and Tama Hudson her cousin. On 14 February 2006 Jay married Maia Jeffries in the first Civil Union on Shortland Street.. Jay and Maia broke up after Jay had an affair (with a man). However they had reconciled and were back together (much to Mark's displeasure). Jay helped Maia deal with an annoying and overprotective Mark. Jay knew that Mark is the father of Maia's unborn baby.
