The Death Core was a Rakatan weapon used to destroy any planet that could not be conquered, and possibly the item that inspired the construction of the Death Star. The bomb had an attached drill that could dig through most rock. It would dig through the crust of a planet and detonate once it reached the core. The blast would cause major volcanic eruptions along the planet's faults. This would loosen the tectonic plates, and the sheer force of the blast itself could send each plate for thousands of miles through space.
