The PED Aviation Rulemaking Committee was established on January 7, 2013, to provide a forum for the U.S. aviation community and portable electronic device (PED) manufacturers to review the comments received from the Federal Register notice about key areas of FAA policy and regulatory guidance that are used by an aircraft operator to expand PED use allowance. The Administrator also tasked the PED ARC to make recommendations to further clarify and provide guidance on allowing additional PEDs without compromising the continued safe operation of the aircraft.
