Olivia befriends Rory in the latter's senior year when they meet at an exhibition Rory covers for the Yale Daily News. Olivia is an artist/art student and is exhibting one of her pieces when she meets Rory Gilmore. Olivia is usually with her roommate Lucy. Lucy and Olivia refer to everyone with pet names (like how they called Marty "boyfriend"). Olivia and Lucy dyed their hair with Rory and comforted her after their graduation. They are also friends with Paris Geller.
