Whipple's other credits include being best boy grip on the Academy Award-winning 1978 film The Deer Hunter and working as a dolly grip on 1986's Cobra, 1988's The Great Outdoors, and 1991's Out for Justice. He was also a co-grip on the 1981 film Zoot Suit, which happened to mark the film debut of future Star Trek: Voyager star Robert Beltran. Whipple passed away in 2007, aged 46.
