The Market of Sorrows is situated in the Lower City of Tortall's capital Corus. Around 246 HE, it's the place where slaves are officially traded. Poor families go there to sell the children they can spare. As slavery is banned in Tortall by the fifth century of the Human Era, the market probably doesn't exist anymore by then or has another purpose.
