The 1st Rangers Battalion was the first U.S Divisin onsite, commanded by Australian captain Chris P. Matherson. Its second-in-command Daniel Brennan would go on to be one of the most celebrated soldiers of the 3 ID 3rd Armour BDE. Elements of the division are to join Task Force Capricorn-1 and take part in Operation Stormcrow.
