The giant S.O.S. sign that Bernard Nadler attempted to create on the beach in order to get rescued. Bernard recruited Hurley to get survivors to help with the construction of the S.O.S. sign. Bernard confronted Richard, Craig and Jerome to help as well. Jin was the only one helping Bernard at the end of the day, and left due to Bernard's strict management style. The project was eventually scrapped when Bernard was confronted by his wife Rose who revealed that she didn't want to leave the island because she believes it is keeping her alive. So Bernard agrees that they will never leave.
