Doctor René Emile Belloq, more commonly known as René Belloq, is the main antagonist of the 1981 Best-Picture nominated action-adventure film, Raiders of the Lost Ark, the first instalment in the Indiana Jones series. Belloq aids the Nazis in finding the Ark of the Covenant, as he intends to use the relic to speak with God. The spirits within the Ark killed the Nazis and caused Belloq's head to explode, allowing Indiana to take the Ark back to the United States government.
