Gordon Summers and Red Crandall were ex-commandos who waged a crusade against crime in the city, with Summers acting as leader. Thier enemies included Shylock Greene: The Crime Merchant and "The Master of Birds." The Black Commandos were excellent fighters but, the fact they didn't carry any weapons frequently gave their opponent's an advantage. They were somehow able to trace the license plate on cars.
