Mary King is a character who is mentioned in Pride and Prejudice. She never appears in the book. Lydia Bennet tells her two older sisters the good news and that Mary left for Liverpool to stay with her uncle indefinitely. Lydia thought her sisters would love the news as she thought George Wickham, whom Mary had formed an attachment, was still single. Elizabeth, who had just heard the story of Mr. Wickham's villainy towards Georgiana Darcy, thought that Miss King had certainly saved herself from such an attachment.
