According to Spirit Albarn, Black☆Star was taken into the DWMA the same day Maka Albarn was born. He is taken in by Sid Barrett. On the day of the the DWMA entrance ceremony, he stood on top of the DWMA and declared his greatness to the new students below. At first, it seemed as if everyone ignored him and left, but then Black☆Star found Tsubaki applauding. Impressed that someone had noticed his greatness for the first time, the two introduced each other, and after finding out that Tsubaki was a Demon Weapon, they became partners.
