The federal election in Germany took place on November 18, 2040, being the first election since the end of World War III, which was practically over by then. It was also the first election in a decade due to the ongoing conflict. Due to the German people being tired of eight years of war, the Free Democratic Party was elected, gaining just a little bit more votes than the ruling Alternative for Germany party. The new party won on the platform of bringing Germany out of the war and restoring relations with the Allies, as well as increasing relations with neutral nations.
