Lakitu lobs forth a Spiny Egg that will deal damage to opponents; upon touching the ground, the egg will break open and a Spiny will come out of it. The Spiny will then walk around on the platform it was spawned on, turning at edges; if an opponent touches it, they will be damaged, though the Spinies can be launched and killed using projectile attacks. The angle at which the egg is thrown at the start can be adjusted.
