The MiniMag PTL was a newer version of the PLX-1 missile launcher that is used by the Imperial heavy weapons specialists and Imperial Marines; and the clones before them. Like the PLX-1, its firing chamber was specifically designed for proton torpedoes (hence the acronym), though it was capable of firing other ordnance. Unlike the earlier Plex, however, the PTL did not support multiple firing settings or launch torpedoes in the 'smart' Gravity-Activated Mode. Its use was strictly Imperial, as the Rebels could only get their hands on the older HH-15 projectile launchers manufactured by Golan Arms. By the time of the Battle of Endor, the MiniMag was nearly obsolete, but was still widely used by Imperial forces throughout the galaxy.
